Former England international Dele Alli made his long-awaited return to professional football with Como on March 15, 2025, marking his first appearance since February 2023.

Coming on as a substitute in the 81st minute against AC Milan at San Siro, Alli’s comeback was short-lived. Just nine minutes into his appearance, he received a red card for a studs-up challenge on Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Initially shown a yellow card, the referee upgraded it to red after a VAR review, cutting Alli’s return abruptly short.
